Job summary

Union Parish Detention Center is seeking a dynamic SECURITY LIEUTENANT to lead the on-site security team and maintain a safe, orderly environment within the facility. You will oversee daily activities, coordinate incident responses, and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and UPDC policies.

The role emphasizes leadership, loss prevention, and conflict management, with duties including supervising rounds every 30 minutes, handling offender movements, and conducting searches upon re-entry

Qualifications

• Requires dynamic and vigilant leadership of a security team.
• Oversee daily security activities, incident responses, and safety protocol compliance.
• Experience in corrections or secured facilities is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead security shifts and ensure adherence to UPDC policies.
• Ensure reports, logs, and paperwork are accurate and timely.
• Conduct headcounts and supervise round checks every 30 minutes.
• Oversee offender movements and supervision of visitation.
• Manage searches and security checks during re-entry and off-compound movements.
• Investigate disturbances and enforce laws and policies.
• Evaluate subordinates and oversee segregation cells and activity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties

Corrections Experience

• ENSURE ALL PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO THEIR SHIFT ARE FOLLOWING ALL UPDC POLICIES.
• ENSURE THAT ALL REPORTS, LOGS, AND PAPERWORK IS PROPERLY AND TIMELY REPORTED AND FORWARDED.
• ENSURE HEADCOUNTS ARE CONDUCTED.
• ENSURES OFFICERS ARE MAKING ROUND EVERY 30 MINUTES.
• ENSURE SHAKEDOWNS ARE BEING PERFORMED.
• SUPERVISES OFFENDER ACTIVITIES AND VISITATION.
• REPORTS PROBLEMS TO DEPUTY WARDEN
• SUPERVISES ALL OFFENDER MOVEMENTS.
• ENSURES OFFENDERS ARE SEARCHED WHEN RE-ENTERING DORM, ALL OFFENDERS WHO GO OFF-COMPOUND, COMING FROM KITCHEN OR WORKING AROUND COMPOUND.
• ENSURES PEACE AND MAINTAINING CONTROL OF ALL OFFENDERS.
• INVESTIGATES DISTURBANCES AND COMPLAINTS.
• ENSURES ALL POLICIES AND LAWS ARE FOLLOWED.
• EVALUATES OFFICERS UNDER THEIR SUPERVISION.
• MANAGES AND OVERSEES SEGREGATION CELLS AND ACTIVITY
• ANY OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED.
