Job summary

Churchill Downs Incorporated is seeking a Lead Security Guard at Ellis Park Racing & Gaming to supervise security operations in the supervisor's absence and provide comprehensive protection for patrons and facilities. You will respond to emergencies, manage incidents, and ensure safe, courteous service across Ellis Park properties and events.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus 1–3 years of relevant security experience, with the ability to drive and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security to patrons and Ellis Park personnel, facilities, grounds and property belonging to Ellis Park.

• Communicate in a courteous, professional, business-like manner with patrons, personnel and the public.
• Prepare incident reports and documentation concerning each incident daily.
• Develop knowledge of services and events to answer guest inquiries about promotions.
• Perform additional duties as necessary or assigned.

Job Summary

A Lead Security Guard assists in supervising security operations and security personnel in the absence of a security supervisor. In addition, this person provides site protection to all Ellis Park properties and physical protection to all Ellis Park patrons and personnel addressing issues including, but not limited to altercations, theft, vandalism, fire, illegal entry and illegal activities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide safety and security to patrons and Ellis Park personnel, facilities, grounds and property belonging to Ellis Park.
• Respond to emergency situations, and situations to protect patrons and Ellis Park personnel including, but not limited to: Traffic control, crowd control, evacuation/staging procedures, and incident command situations.
• Effectively communicate and address matters involving patrons, Ellis Park personnel and the public in a courteous, professional and business-like manner.
• Prepare incident reports and prepare documentation concerning each incident and report to appropriate personnel on a daily basis.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of services, amenities, and surroundings, providing accurate directions, and information for guest inquiries about promotions and special events.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One (1) to three (3) years of relevant work experience, preferably in a security or job related field.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Requires the ability to drive hear, sit, stand, talk, walk, turn/twist and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
• Requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, kneel and reach overhead 25-50% of the time.
• Requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift and slide/transfer 1- 50+ lbs. 25-50% of the time.

Essential Mental Demands

• Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan, make decisions, interpret data, read and write 51-100% of the time.
• Train, schedule, apportion work among employees, directing (determining work techniques, equipment, materials), appraise productivity and measure performance.

Work Environment (inside/outside)

• The job is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to varied temperatures and fumes (e.g., cigarette smoke).

Other Requirements

• Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
