Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Installer to work onsite with our commercial customers to install and program Integrated Security fire and security systems. You will also dismantle and reconstruct equipment when necessary.

The role requires reading blueprints, following diagrams, coordinating with emergency services, and mentoring less experienced installers. A high school diploma or GED plus technical training is preferred, with 3+ years of electrical/electronic experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• 3+ years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Install devices and dismantle/reconstruct equipment per customer needs.
• Follow safety practices to protect people and property.
• Coordinate with customers to verify schedules prior to installation.
• Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
• Follow wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
• Test system operation and relay to signal center.
• Read building electrical/sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinate with police/fire departments and handle emergency notifications.
• May lead installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor junior installers.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25-35 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
