Security Officer Job Description
Responsible for patrolling various areas of the hospital's buildings and grounds. Protects Clinton Memorial Hospital property from theft or vandalism. Assists in the control of visitors and patients as requested.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Patrols all areas inside and outside the hospital, checking locked doors and secured spaces. Records any unlocked doors and notifies appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Completes evening lockdown and morning unlock of designated doors.
- Patrols parking lots and enforces hospital parking regulations.
- Maintains a written log of all actions taken during the shift.
- Investigates and documents any suspicious activity.
- Performs monthly fire drills, panic alarm tests, fire extinguisher inspections, and fireman's recall of elevators as scheduled.
- Responds to maintenance requests, performs routine maintenance, or contacts on-call facility staff. Documents work orders through the computerized FM Works system.
- Sets up equipment for helicopter landing zones and maintains a secure area during helicopter arrivals and departures.
- Assists with wayfinding and controlling patients, guests, and visitors.
- Observes and questions unauthorized personnel on hospital property.
- Provides escort and access to restricted areas upon request.
- Collects, documents, and secures patient valuables.
- Patrols walkways to ensure they are free of hazards, snow, and ice, applying ice melt when necessary.
- Contacts the facility on-call person during snow events.
- Attends meetings, in-services, and training sessions to stay current with security trends.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Responds to incidents involving unruly, violent, intoxicated, or mentally ill individuals, and reports issues to law enforcement when needed.
