Job summary

Draper, a Cambridge, MA-based independent R&D nonprofit, is seeking a security guard to protect facilities and personnel, monitor access control, and respond to incidents. The role involves patrolling, badge checks, and coordinating with local authorities as needed.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in security or related fields, stand/walk for long periods, and can operate under pressure. MS Office proficiency and CPR/AED certification preferred. Base salary is described for US locations.

Responsibilities

• Stand or sit at a fixed post or roving detail guard.
• Monitor CCTV and access control systems.
• Monitor and respond to alarms from various systems.
• Receive and respond to emergency calls and dispatch personnel as required.
• Conduct after-hours patrols of Draper buildings.
• Check badges of incoming employees and contractors; issue visitor badges.
• Escort visitors and contractors as required.
• Ensure proper sign-in/out of company and personal property.
• Perform other security-related duties as assigned.

Controls entrance points. May receive and direct visitors to desired areas. Periodically tours premises, examines doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure. Observes departing persons to guard against theft of company property. Maintains security reports and records. Reports irregularities and coordinates activities with local law enforcement agencies as required.Job Description:Duties/Responsibilities• Stand or sit at a fixed post or serve as a roving detail guard.• Monitor CCTV and access control systems.• Monitor and respond to alarms from various systems including access control, environmental health and safety, physical plant and fire panels.• Receive and respond to emergency calls from employees. Dispatch guards, safety personnel, maintenance personnel, EMT's and HAZMAT teams as required.• Conduct after• hours patrols including walking designated tours encompassing the interior and exterior of Draper buildings. Identify and report security, facility or safety related issues such as leaks, smoke, fire, abnormal temperature conditions, suspicious individuals or activity.
