Job summary

Awaken Christian Academy is seeking a part‑time Security Guard to join our team, primarily Wednesdays 7:30 am–12:30 pm and Fridays 7:30 am–3:30 pm. The role supports safety for students, staff, and visitors on campus, including church and school activities.

The position requires an armed security presence using concealed carry. You will patrol, monitor entries, respond to incidents, and coordinate with leadership while upholding Christian values and community care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Guard card (active or willing to obtain) preferred.
• Active CCW Permit (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus interior and exterior as assigned.
• Monitor entrances and high‑traffic areas for access control.
• Maintain communication with leadership and security staff.
• Respond to disturbances and emergencies with professionalism.
• Assist with crowd control during events and activities.
• Lock/unlock buildings and gates as scheduled.
• Submit incident reports and safety updates to the Security Director.
• Enforce Awaken’s safety policies and procedures.

Awaken Christian Academy is looking for apart-time Security Guardto join our team to work primarily Wednesdays 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and Fridays 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

JOBPOSITION SUMMARY

Awaken Christian Academy is committed to being a Christ-centered, biblically based community serving the students and families entrusted to us. The Security Guard plays a critical role in the safety and protection of our students, staff, and guests. You will help maintain a secure, welcoming, and peaceful environment across our church and school campus. We are seeking someone who is alert, dependable, and calm under pressure, with a strong sense of integrity and a heart for ministry. The i ndividual holding this position model Christian beliefs, thoughts, and actions (on and off the job) to the students as they teach. This position requires an armed security person to operate in a concealed carry fashion. As a Security Guard, you will have the opportunity to:

• Be a visible, reassuring presence during school days and events
• Monitor buildings and grounds to ensure a secure environment
• Respond to emergencies and support incident resolution with professionalism and discretion
• Build rapport with staff, volunteers, students, parents, and visitors

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Patrol assigned areas of the campus (interior and exterior) during assigned shifts
• Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to ensure proper access and prevent unauthorized entry
• Maintain communication with school leadership, administrative staff, and fellow security personnel
• Respond quickly and appropriately to disturbances, suspicious activity, or emergencies
• Assist with crowd control during events and school activities
• Lock and unlock buildings and gates as scheduled
• Submit incident reports and safety updates to the Security Director
• Be familiar with and help enforce Awaken’s safety policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience working in a church, school, or public setting is a plus
• Ability to remain calm, observant, and decisive under pressure
• Familiarity with conflict de-escalation and emergency protocols
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Active or previous guard card (or willingness to obtain) preferred
• Active CCW Permit (or willingness to obtain) preferred
