Job summary

Job Summary:The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring the safety and security of the facility and property as well as employees and visitors. This position may be responsible for securing gate access; controlling access to the building; making rounds; directing visitors; providing assistance to the public; and responding to alarms. The Security Officer is responsible for responding to incidents and writing corresponding incident reports.Shift: Hiring for mulitple positions. Full-time and part-time available. Evening and weekend shifts may be requiredPart-Time, 16-24 hours per week and Full-Time, 32 hours per weekPay Rate: $15.00 per hourEssential Job Functions:• Security guard tours• Controlling and monitoring access control systems• Generating incident reports and journal entries• Directing contractors and visitors• Interacting with members of the public• Monitoring CCTV• Monitoring, answering, and generating emails in a timely manner• Software monitoring• Respond to emergencies as needed• Other duties as assignedRequired Skills, Experience, and Education:High school diploma or equivalent6 months of previous security related experience, preferred but not required.Good working knowledge of security operationsAbility to proficiently use computer applications to write reports, etc.Ability to effectively communicate in English, both in written and verbal form, with a wide variety of customers and government stakeholdersAbility to remain calm in emergencies or otherwise stressful situations.Must be physically capable of assisting in cases of emergency.Preferred Experience and Education:Military or National GuardAssociate's degree or 60 semester hours of college level course workCompletion of a Police Officer's Training CoursePhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
