Job description

Summary

The Security Guard II is a position within the security and protective service field. Guards in this role provide security services under limited supervision from a Lead Security Guard. They perform fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols, maintaining situational awareness and making decisions based on established protocols. Duties include working in austere conditions, such as inclement weather, and performing walking, standing, searching, surveillance, or sitting duties essential to security functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Informing supervisors of unusual occurrences and important events as per post orders and protocols.
  2. Monitoring alarms, radio traffic, and other information sources; dispatching or informing others as needed.
  3. Reporting and addressing fire alarms, burglar alarms, criminal acts, and suspicious behaviors.
  4. Screening and inspecting vehicles and pedestrians entering or exiting the facility.
  5. Preventing prohibited articles from entering or leaving the facility.
  6. Escorting individuals or vehicles as directed.
  7. Using communication devices appropriately.
  8. Monitoring equipment, guarding against loss or damage, and reporting issues immediately.
  9. Logging property pass numbers for authorized movements.
  10. Ensuring security of government property, detaining personnel, and reporting unauthorized activities.
  11. Conducting patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities.
  12. Issuing vehicle passes, monitoring access control systems, and responding to alarms.
  13. Granting access during non-working hours to authorized personnel.
  14. Monitoring facility systems and reporting deficiencies.
  15. Performing surveillance for unauthorized activities or breaches.
  16. Supporting scheduled events and emergencies as needed.
  17. Maintaining logs and administrative documents.
  18. Cooperating with law enforcement and providing evidence or testimony as required.
  19. Performing other duties as assigned.
Access Requirements

Access to government facilities is mandatory. Denial or revocation of access due to misconduct or security reasons will result in employment termination.

Supervision

This role operates within established guidelines; deviations must be approved or reported to a supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least 2 years of security or military law enforcement experience, or an equivalent position with the U.S. Armed Forces.
  3. One year of experience demonstrating the ability to follow directions, meet attendance, and complete certification training.
  4. State Armed Security Guard license required.
  5. Valid driver's license required.
  6. Fluency in English, speaking and writing.
  7. Ability to pass criminal background, drug test, and physical exam.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. First Aid/CPR certification.
  2. Experience with Glock and AR-15 platforms.
  3. Basic computer skills.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

Requires extensive sitting, monitoring, walking outdoors in various weather conditions, and kneeling or stooping to inspect vehicles or containers.

Work Schedule

Rotating shifts, including night and weekend work, as scheduled to meet contract requirements.
