New Mexico Department of Health seeks a Security Officer for the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute at Las Vegas. The role involves safeguarding facilities, conducting screenings, and preventing contraband from entering the campus.

Incumbent will have an obligation to manage its situations in such a way that it minimizes any possibilities of injury to clients, staff and other persons visiting the premises as well as provide security, loss control, and protection to the New Mexico Behavior Health Institute at Las Vegas (NMBHI), Community Based Services (CBS). and San Miguel/Mora Mental Health Services.
The job gets done by performing tasks such as: conducting searches of new admissions, clients and visitors to prevent contraband from entering NMBHI. Check all buildings and ensure they are properly secured (all windows closed, doors locked, and lights off during non-working hours) for NMBHI. As well as assist staff members with combative clients using CPI techniques and perform other related duties as assigned.

No Prior Experience Or Training Required.
This position will perform work in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to potential hazards that may include but are not limited to, dealing with trespassers, vandals, and/or unruly clients. This position may require extended periods of walking and standing. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
