(2) Security Guard

Summary: Lac Seul First Nation is seeking two (2) full-time Security Guards. Under the direction of the ILF Manager, the Security Guard will provide security for the new ten (10) unit Independent Living Facility, parking lot, and other LSFN property. The Security Guard will perform watchkeeping patrols to guard against illegal entry and theft of materials.

Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  • Provide security by protecting people and property.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Conduct routine patrols.
  • Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises.
  • Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance.
  • Write and submit security reports.
  • Ensure all incident/accident reports and recorded accurately and submitted to the ILF Manager as they occur.
  • Other duties as assigned by the ILF Manager and/or Director of Home & Community Care.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid “G” Class Ontario Driver’s License and clean three (3) year driving abstract.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a security guard license or possess a valid Ontario security guard license.
  • WHMIS and Health and Safety Training or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Physical capacity to handle the physical aspects of the work.
  • Good customer service skills and courtesy to greet visitors.
  • Good judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to speak Ojibway is an asset.
  • This position requires good community ability, must be well organized and apt in problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends as required by operational needs.

Location: Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul, ON.

Term: Full-time position

Rate: Wages start at $24.38/hour based on qualifications and experience.

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 35 hours per week.
