Individuals in this role perform regimented work to meet Homeland Security regulations regarding access control to prevent injury and loss of life by reducing or eliminating harmful agents or devices on Ferry Division vessels and facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring vehicular and pedestrian traffic to prevent unauthorized entry into restricted areas, screening vehicles and passengers to prevent threats such as explosive devices, and serving as first responders in emergencies while maintaining positive customer service contacts. Security personnel must identify potential threats without infringing on privacy rights.
The position generally involves shift work – 7 days on and 7 days off – with schedules subject to management discretion and routine duties assigned accordingly.
This role is based at the Southport Ferry Operations.
Preferred credential: Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to complete EMT training and meet re-certification standards may be required.
