Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms is seeking a Security Guard to serve as the gatekeeper for all visitors, vendors, and trucks entering and exiting the facility. The role also includes checking refrigeration truck operations and handling trucking paperwork while supporting plant protocols during emergencies.

The ideal candidate will communicate effectively in English, maintain accurate logs, and follow all safety procedures to support a zero-accident culture.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and write English and complete required logs.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Control access of staff, visitors, and trucks to ensure authorized entry.
• Review and log inspection paperwork for incoming/outgoing trucks.
• Direct traffic and coordinate routes on property.
• Inspect refrigerated trailers and ensure proper operation.
• Report issues with logs or trucks to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with plant emergency protocols as needed.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Security Guard is the gatekeeper for all visitors, vendors and trucks entering and exiting the Company’s property. This role also checks the operation of refrigerated trucks, completes incoming and outgoing trucking paperwork, and assists with plant protocols for emergency situations as requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Control access of staff, visitors, and trucks entering the property to ensure entry to those authorized are allowed to enter; verify all visitors obtaining approval from appropriate personnel
• Review and log inspection paperwork for incoming and outgoing trucks, direct traffic and coordinate routes with appropriate personnel while truck on property ensuring trucks route to specified areas according to cargo carried (live animals or supplies)
• Inspect all refrigerated trailers on WF property during off peak staff hours to ensure they are operating and fueled appropriately
• Report any issues/ discrepancies with logs, trucks, etc. to appropriate personnel as they arise
• Assist with all plant emergency protocols as needed
• Follow all safety protocols including wearing required personal protective equipment in areas where mandatory to support a zero accident culture
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Ability to read and write English and complete required logs
• Ability to communicate, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, strong attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work non-standard shifts (Holiday, weekend and/ or extended) as needed per business requirements
• Ability to stand and move around for shift
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather (hot, cold, dry and/ or wet)
