Job description

Immediate need for a talented Security Engineer Specialist. This is a 06+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential, located remotely in the U.S. Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if interested.

Pay Range: $70 - $75 / hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Configure and evaluate API security using Cloudflare API gateway and API shield.
2. Collaborate with API owners and architecture teams to understand API security space.
3. Understand ingress and egress points and how to protect against malware and other threats.
4. Establish and maintain operational, configuration, and other processes/procedures to ensure efficiency of detective and preventative policies.
5. Support Cyber Security Operations Center and Threat Detection Teams with recommendations and request handling for endpoint policies.
6. Coordinate with infrastructure, engineering, and application support teams to deploy policies and resolve issues quickly without impacting business systems.
7. Participate in on-call rotation.
8. Coordinate with the Information Security team to ensure solutions meet security policies, procedures, standards, and baseline configurations.
9. Understand and promote IT Security standards, reference architectures.
10. Demonstrate understanding of malware, threats, vulnerabilities, and their impacts.
11. Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate technical solutions.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

1. 5+ years of relevant experience in IT Security, with hands-on experience with Cloudflare API security.
2. Deep understanding of cryptography concepts, including decryption of API traffic for security inspection.
3. API management experience with platforms such as MuleSoft, Apigee, etc.
4. Ability to collaborate with API teams to design and document secure API patterns.
5. Experience in assessing and securing APIs following OWASP and other security standards.
6. Knowledge of industry security regulations and frameworks (MITRE Attack, NIST, CIS CSC, etc.).
7. Understanding of key IT components: Secure LDAP, Networking, firewalls, load balancing, Federated Identity.
8. Familiarity with change management processes.
9. Working knowledge of networking protocols, routing, DNS, firewalls.
10. Organized with the ability to multitask and work independently across multiple endpoint technologies.
11. Experience with Python scripting and automation.
