Reporting to the Threat Detection Manager, the Security Engineer will collaborate with cyber threat intelligence analysts, SOC analysts, threat detection engineers, server and network administrators, security tool administrators, and department customers. The role requires experience in incident response and understanding security log feeds and their integration into SIEM systems.

You will:

• Understand data feeds from multiple security tools and logs feeding into SIEM & UEBA technologies. Assess capabilities and quality, and recommend improvements.
• Create new use cases based on threat intelligence, analyst feedback, log data, and past incidents.
• Manage the content lifecycle, including creating, testing, tuning, and maintaining documentation for use cases.
• Enhance application security vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with security teams and SMEs to identify capability gaps.
• Develop parsers and field extractions for reliable content development.
• Create custom scripts to improve SIEM functionalities.
• Participate in root cause analyses of security incidents and recommend new data sources and enrichment strategies.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience in security engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Proficiency in Terraform and cloud migration experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Infrastructure as Code.
• Programming/scripting skills in Python or Golang.
• Experience with ETL onboarding for diverse log technologies.
• Support and development experience with Splunk platform, dashboards, and use cases.
• Development of REST APIs for external data integration.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of multiple log formats and SIEM data sources.
• Strong background in Windows and Linux platforms.
• This role is remote within the US.
