Job summary

Meta Security is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join our Nation State leadership team. You will collaborate with security and engineering teams to drive strategy and develop detection and response automation leveraging industry-standard and custom platforms.

You’ll identify critical assets and TTPs, assess top risks, review architectures, and build automated workflows to reduce false positives while accelerating incident resolution.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in offensive or defensive cyber operations, detection and response engineering, or a similar security engineering role.
  • Ability to communicate and influencing across functions to drive solutions.
  • Experience delivering executive-level security strategies.
  • Engineering experience and the capacity to understand and reason about complex technical systems.
  • Experience designing systems used for responding to both external and insider threats.

  • Identify and prioritize areas of risk across the company
  • Lead major cross-company workstreams to deploy capabilities from multiple security teams to mitigate this risk
  • Apply domain expertise and an attacker's mindset to lead cross-functional initiatives aimed at strengthening incident detection and response capabilities for complex threats
  • Perform TTP-based threat modeling for assets including endpoints, mobile, servers, internal services, public and private cloud environments, and networking equipment
  • Review the security architecture of large-scale systems, and propose logging, detection, and prevention controls
  • Work with policy and legal teams to strengthen our standards and governance
  • Build response workflows and actions that auto-resolve false positives and provide context
  • Influence asset-owning teams and their leadership across Meta to adopt access control designs and processes
  • Support security incident response in a cross-functional environment and drive incident resolution
  • Build logging pipelines using our custom datasets and infrastructure

Job description

Summary:

Meta Security is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join our Nation State leadership team. You will be working across security and engineering teams to drive strategy, influence stakeholders, and develop detection and response automation leveraging both industry-standard and custom detection and response platforms. You’ll also work alongside Security Engineers and Analysts to identify critical assets and TTPs, assess the top risks, and evaluate potential attacks against Meta systems.

Required Skills:

  4. Perform TTP-based threat modeling for a wide variety of assets, including endpoints, mobile, servers, internal services, public and private cloud environments, and networking equipment

  5. Review the security architecture of large-scale custom and commercial systems, and independently propose logging, detection, and prevention controls

  6. Work with policy and legal teams to strengthen our standards and our governance

  7. Build response workflows and actions that auto-resolve false positives and provide context, scaling our ability to investigate

  8. Influence asset-owning teams and their leadership across Meta to adopt appropriate access control designs and operational processes

  9. Support security incident response in a cross-functional environment and drive incident resolution

  10. Build logging pipelines using our custom datasets and infrastructure

  2. 10+ years of experience in offensive or defensive cyber operations, detection and response engineering, or a similar security engineering role

  5. Engineering experience and the capacity to understand and reason about complex technical systems

  7. B.S. in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent work experience

  3. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

  5. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

  6. Experience in threat hunting, including leveraging intelligence data to proactively identify and investigate suspicious behavior across networks and systems

  7. Background in security-focused software engineering, designing large-scale systems and data pipelines, and offensive security

  8. Broad knowledge across the Security domain, as well as deep focus in one (or more) areas such as logs and events processing, offensive or defensive security, or detection and/or response tooling development

  9. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Public Compensation:

$219,000/year to $301,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
