Job summary

TalentFish in the Chicago suburbs is seeking a hands-on Security Engineer II to own security platforms, drive incident response, and strengthen controls across endpoint, network, application, and cloud layers. This hybrid role requires a bachelor’s degree and relevant security certs, with 4+ years in cybersecurity.

Ideal candidates bring automation skills (Python/PowerShell), experience with SIEM/EDR/DLP, and strong communication to mentor teammates. Onsite a couple days monthly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a security-related field and relevant certs.
• 4+ years in cybersecurity analysis or engineering with incident ownership.
• Hands-on with security tooling, automation, and risk measurement.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own 2–3 security applications, including config, troubleshooting, and workflow automation.
• Lead complex security incidents, investigations, response, and recovery; participate in on-call.
• Evaluate risk before/after implementations and report security capabilities.
• Deliver security projects, support audits, and develop policies and awareness materials.
• Partner with IT/business teams and mentor junior colleagues.
