Security Engineer II, Alexa and Fire TV Security

Job Overview

In this role, you will provide guidance to the Alexa and Fire TV business and engineering teams on protecting customer data. You will participate in feature and product designs, review services, and help mitigate risks. Additionally, you'll contribute to developing detection tools and promote security automation to discover and address risks early, automating detection and mitigation processes whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with business teams to understand products, risks, and mitigations.
• Educate teams on security policies, best practices, and established protocols.
• Review application architectures, primarily Linux-based OS on AWS or devices.
• Develop threat models and review security controls in code and cloud configurations.
• Assist teams with mitigations through documentation and proof of concept demonstrations.
• Contribute to automated detection software for pre- and post-launch risks.
• Gather metrics to evaluate security effectiveness.

Daily Activities

You will collaborate with other security engineers, sometimes be on-call, and handle tickets related to Alexa and Fire TV security. You will work closely with product teams to implement security best practices and build trust through practical risk reduction solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
• Experience with AWS products and services.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, C++.
• Understanding of system vulnerabilities, penetration testing, and exploit development.
• Experience with streaming protocols and Android OS security controls.
