Job summary

Google is seeking a software engineer focused on security to join our Seattle team. You will lead Kubernetes security reviews, help harden the GKE platform for AI/ML workloads, and guide engineers on secure practices across the product.

You will collaborate with security and product teams, review designs for threats, and drive long-term threat detection strategies while contributing to the broader Google Cloud security program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
• 5 years of distributed cloud computing including 3 years of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Responsibilities

• Perform Kubernetes security reviews, research and reproduce vulnerabilities.
• Lead the team in developing secure operational practices, providing engineers with security guidance to mitigate the product's top threats.
• Partner with Security teams across Google to build out a long-term threat detection strategy for the product.
• Review designs and look for security gaps, both with one-time reviews and longer term engagement.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
• 5 years of experience in distributed cloud computing including 3 years of experience in containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.
• 5 years of experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• 5 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) techniques such as prompt engineering, dual encoders, and embedding vectors.
• 5 years of experience building prototypes or applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems and Google Kubernetes engine, with the ability to manage stakeholders with clear written and verbal communication.
