Job summary

Bot Auto is seeking a Software Engineer, Security Engineering to build and operate security across its autonomous trucking stack. You will secure onboard systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI components, collaborating across vehicle and platform teams to reduce risk and safeguard operations.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on security experience, Kubernetes/AWS familiarity, and a passion for responsible AI and safety in complex distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-2 years of software engineering, security engineering, or related experience; internships, research, projects, or open-source contributions welcome.
• Programming experience in Python, Go, Rust, C/C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Foundational understanding of authentication and authorization, networking, operating systems, and common software security vulnerabilities.
• Familiarity with Linux and cloud or distributed systems, with an interest in learning how to secure production environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security controls for onboard (in-vehicle) systems, including secure boot and code signing.
• Support security across infrastructure and platforms, including Kubernetes and AWS.
• Help evaluate protections for AI systems, defenses against prompt injection and data exfiltration.
• Build identity and access management, secrets management, and least-privilege access for services and devices.
• Partner with engineering teams in threat modeling, risk assessments, and security design reviews.
• Operate vulnerability management, dependency scanning, and SSDLC tooling.
• Contribute to security detection, logging, monitoring, and incident response across environments.
• Improve security through automation, documentation, testing, and cross-team collaboration.
