Job summary

VIATEQ is seeking a Security Engineer to support enterprise cybersecurity operations for a federal government client. The role requires an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one, with primary work at the client site in Washington, DC and approved remote/telework locations.

You will design, implement, and maintain security architectures, controls across on-prem/cloud, and lead vulnerability management, incident response, and compliance activities within a demanding federal

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, Information Systems or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on security engineering / cybersecurity operations within federal govt IT contracting or enterprise security.
• Experience implementing and administering enterprise security controls across endpoints, networks, apps and cloud.
• Experience supporting ATO activities, NIST SP 800-53, SSP development, POA&M management, continuous monitoring.
• Active clearance or ability to obtain govt background checks and IT access authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security architectures across on-prem, cloud & hybrid environments.
• Lead security control implementation, configuration, monitoring, and compliance alignment.
• Own vulnerability management program: scanning, prioritization, remediation tracking and reporting.
• Support SIEM tuning, detection rules, dashboards, and incident triage.
• Develop security baseline configurations and hardening standards for Windows, Linux, network devices & cloud.
• Provide guidance to infrastructure, cloud, dev, and security teams.
