Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton seeks a Security Engineer to design, build, and maintain security systems protecting data, networks, and IT infrastructure. You’ll focus on proactive defense with secure architectures and automated defenses, aligning with DoD/federal cybersecurity practices.

Responsibilities include deploying firewalls and IDS/IPS, performing pen tests, managing IAM, and leading incident response. Strong Elastic Stack expertise and a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience administering Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, or Fleet).
• Experience managing Elasticsearch index lifecycle policies, index templates, and data streams at scale.
• Experience with Elastic Security detection rules, alerts, and case management workflows.
• Experience with log ingestion pipelines across diverse sources (network, endpoint, identity, cloud).
• Experience with Elastic Common Schema (ECS) and mapping non‑standard logs into ECS fields.
• Experience with ES|QL or EQL for threat hunting and detection‑as‑code workflows.
• Experience in DoD/IC/federal cybersecurity environments (SOC, SIEM).
• Secret clearance and HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption protocols.
• Perform regular penetration tests and security audits to patch weaknesses.
• Lead IAM with access control policies for data protection.
• Lead or assist in incident response and forensics.
• Create and enforce security standards (passwords, data classification).
• Communicate security concepts to varied audiences, including senior management.
• Manage cybersecurity controls and event correlation in large enterprises.
• Lead risk and vulnerability assessments in networks, systems, and apps.
• Leverage big data analytics and security events to detect threats.
