Job summary

Fuse Energy Technologies is hiring its first dedicated Security Engineer to own security across cloud, software, OT/control systems, and data pipelines in San Leandro, CA. You will shape strategy, standards, and controls, partnering with IT to enforce security across a growing footprint.

The role sits at the intersection of cloud security, DevSecOps, and OT security, with day-one ownership and a focus on practical risk reduction for a hardware-adjacent, fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a security engineering role spanning cloud security and DevSecOps.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Practical experience with identity security — SSO/IdP policy (Okta or equivalent).
• Experience with a security monitoring/detection platform (SIEM/EDR).
• Solid understanding of secure SDLC practices — SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secrets management.

Responsibilities

• Own security posture for AWS infrastructure managed via Terraform and Spacelift.
• Partner with engineering to build security into the SDLC and CI/CD pipeline.
• Assess and secure control systems and data collection infrastructure.
• Own and operate security monitoring and detection tooling; triage alerts.
• Define access-control standards across SaaS tools and IdP enforcement.
• Define MDM security baselines for IT to implement and maintain.
• Build and lead incident response efforts when issues arise.
• Track security risk and support compliance groundwork as the company matures.
• Run security awareness efforts for a non-security-native team.
