Job summary

DAT Freight & Analytics seeks a Security Engineer to join our Security Architecture and Engineering team in Seattle. This hands-on role owns security work end-to-end within a defined scope, collaborating across teams to embed security into SDLC and production systems.

You’ll apply security architecture principles, build automation, and author technical documentation for secure cloud deployments, container hardening, and access management.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of security architecture principles and risk-based design.
• Experience with DevSecOps pipelines and security tooling in SDLC.
• Ability to author clear technical documentation and diagrams.
• Knowledge of cloud security controls, IAM, and network security.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53, SOC 2, CIS Benchmarks, and Zero Trust.
• Experience tuning security controls to reduce false positives.

Responsibilities

• Apply security architecture principles to defined problems, evaluating tradeoffs for secure product innovation.
• Build and maintain automation workflows, integrating with CI/CD pipelines and cloud security tooling.
• Author runbooks, architecture diagrams, and deployment specifications for secure cloud deployments.
• Embed security into SDLC and production systems (DevSecOps, IaC scanning, SAST/DAST/SCA).
• Apply risk frameworks and identify gaps in control coverage.
• Resolve routine security problems and assist incident response with detections for threats.
