Job summary

NetCov is seeking a Security Engineer to secure client environments and drive the deployment and health of security solutions. You will operate with a security-first mindset, coordinating with clients and internal teams to ensure timely and effective risk reduction.

The role involves ongoing vulnerability management, incident response support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement EDR, SIEM, and threat protection across Windows and cloud services.

About the Role

The Security Engineer plays a vital role in proactively securing our client environments. The role is perfect for someone who is detail oriented, effective with time management, and has strong internal and client facing communication skills all while processing everything they do through a strong security focused lens. The right candidate will ensure the proper deployment and ongoing health of our security solutions, and serve as an escalation point for our reactive security team.

Accountabilities

Primary Accountability 1: Security Solutions Deployment

  • Implement our managed security tools as part of client onboarding or one-off projects.
  • Meet communicated project timelines and deadlines.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of solutions.
  • Send appropriate internal and client communication throughout deployment.

Primary Accountability 2: Ongoing Solution Health

  • Monitoring and remediation of solution installation and functionality
  • Quarterly review of solutions adapting the Continuous Improvement Model

Primary Accountability 3: Vulnerability Scanning

  • Conduct recurring vulnerability scans of client environments.
  • Communicate findings and remediation steps to clients.
  • Ownership of remediation steps.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Required
  • Organization Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Communication: Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to manage client communications and team interactions proficiently.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, including cross functional teams.
  • Decision Making: Ability to make informed and timely decisions in high-pressure situations, such as during a security incident.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new security challenges, technologies, and industry trends.
Technical Competencies
  • Security tools such as EDR, MDR, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners
  • Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, familiarity with routers, firewalls, access points, IDS/IPS and VPN.
  • Familiarity with Email threat protection tools and concepts.
Role Logistics
  • This is a full-time position
  • Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM [9 hour shift]
  • Reliable personal transportation for use in traveling to clients' offices is essential if ever needed (Although rare)
  • Due to the nature of the work, you may be required to fulfil on-call, incident response duties as part of a night and weekend rotation. Additional work hours may also be required during incident remediation events.
  • This position may require travel to industry events, Network Coverage office locations, and Network Coverage events where locations will vary.
