As a Security Data Scientist, you will leverage your data analysis skills to identify and drive impactful projects that enhance the safety and security of Figma's products, platform, and IT systems. The mission of the Figma Security team is to help Figmates ship the most secure and safe product to our users. We seek security data scientists with a strong understanding of security and anti-abuse fundamentals. You will collaborate closely with Security Engineering teams and other departments to focus on systemic security and safety improvements, risk reduction, security design reviews, incident response, and risk management.

This is a full-time role that can be based in one of our US hubs or remotely within the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:

1. Collaborate cross-functionally to understand security and anti-abuse issues and work with engineering, product, data science, and other teams on solutions
2. Analyze attacker and user behavior on the Figma platform, create datasets and metrics, conduct experiments, and guide strategic decisions
3. Conduct investigations and design reviews to identify current and potential attack vectors against Figma products and services
4. Advocate for security best practices throughout Figma
5. Establish partnerships with Engineering, Product, Data Science, Design, Legal, and other teams

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Currently a 5th-year Ph.D. student or recent graduate in computer science, security, or a related field
• A good understanding of real-world security and anti-abuse problems in the industry
• Fluency in SQL
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar scripting languages
• Experience with distributed data processing systems (Hive, Redshift, Presto, Snowflake, Spark, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills
• A self-starting attitude along with strong communication and collaboration skills
