Job summary

BCore is seeking a Linux Engineer in Herndon, Virginia to join a mission-focused team that delivers enterprise IT, cloud solutions, DevSecOps, and systems engineering support for government clients.

The role requires TS/SCI with Poly and 11+ years of relevant experience, with hands-on Linux administration, scripting, and automation. You will help secure and optimize large Linux environments and contribute to cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree and 11+ years of relevant experience.
• Expert Linux Systems Engineer with Red Hat and derivatives (RHEL, RockyOS).
• Proficient in shell (BASH) scripting and Linux administration (O&M).
• Experience with configuration management software: Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering and software development in large Linux server environments (Red Hat, RockyOS).
• Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate Linux system administration tasks.
• Ensure Linux systems meet security and compliance requirements.
• Analyze business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
• Prepare required documentation (program-level and user-level).
• Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
• Support the customer in development and maintenance of systems baseline.
• Assess server loads and develop tuning recommendations.
• Additional duties, as assigned.
• O&M duties include pager/phone duty, day-to-day operations, and OS updates/patches.
