Job summary

D2 Consulting is seeking an Infrastructure & Cluster Engineer to manage and optimize a dedicated customer compute cluster. The role focuses on a highly available, secure hardware foundation, supporting complex workloads with OpenShift-based environments.

Active TS/SCI security clearance is required; you will work on Linux system administration, hardware monitoring, and AI orchestration with Run:AI and SLURM to ensure peak performance and reliability in a federal/enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Linux systems administration and infrastructure management in HPC environments.
• Experience with bare-metal servers, enterprise storage, and InfiniBand networking.
• Familiar with workload schedulers and AI orchestration tools (Run:AI, SLURM).
• Hands-on with OpenShift or Kubernetes container orchestration.
• Scripting in Bash and Python to automate cluster management.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, network, and OS issues.

Responsibilities

• Cluster Administration: Manage day-to-day operations of the customer compute cluster, including Linux OS administration, hardware monitoring, patching, and system upgrades.
• Resource and Job Management: Configure, maintain, and optimize workload management and orchestration platforms, utilizing Run:AI for efficient distribution of AI/ML workloads.
• Infrastructure Optimization: Tune cluster performance at hardware, OS, and network levels to maximize compute efficiency and data throughput.
• Storage and Network Management: Administer storage solutions and high-speed networking fabrics; support InfiniBand GPU-to-GPU network infrastructure.
• Environment Configuration: Provision environments and container platforms (OpenShift) for seamless customer model deployment.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure infrastructure components meet federal security standards and access controls.
