Job summary

The Building People, LLC has an immediate opening for a Commissioning & Energy Engineer to support Building Commissioning (Cx) services across HVAC, electrical, life safety, and building envelope systems for federal and commercial facilities nationwide.

This role combines commissioning and energy analysis, including ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits, with BAS programming under the guidance of senior engineers. Requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in HVAC, with up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

• Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with a team.
• Applies strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Assists with commissioning activities across projects and systems (auditing, baselining, benchmarking, M&V).
• Collects field data to support ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits.
• Supports HVAC equipment programming and energy end-use analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning across HVAC, electrical, life safety, and building envelope systems for federal and commercial facilities.
• Support ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits and energy-DS deliverables.
• Assist in developing ECMs and WCMs and in M&V activities.
• Contribute to documentation and reporting for commissioning projects.
