Position Summary

Orlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly-owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in-patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care. Position Summary

Supervises a shift of Security Officers to provide protection and security of hospital assets and employees, patients, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Must present a professional demeanor and be able to interface with and provide excellent customer service to a wide range of guests and corporate staff.
  • Interprets laws and policies and procedures and communicates interpretation verbally and in writing.
  • Required to manage emotional situations and customers under extreme stress.
  • Supervises training of new officers and ongoing training for current officers.
  • Communicates proper information regarding patient or non-patient needs to peers, subordinates, and staff.
  • Performs periodic and semi-annual reviews of subordinates.
  • Investigates incidents and completes reports.
  • Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

High school graduate or equivalent. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes.

Licensure/Certification

  • Must obtain a State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services within 120 days of hire, renewed biannually.
  • Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire, renewed annually.
  • Must obtain a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire, maintained during employment.

Experience

Two (2) years security experience, including one (1) year supervisory or leadership experience.
