Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Security Engineer to design and maintain automation across cybersecurity and enterprise platforms. You will automate repetitive tasks, connect tools via APIs, and translate operational requirements into reliable engineering solutions.

The role combines scripting with an understanding of AI, security operations, and incident response. Collaboration with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders is essential to drive secure, scalable automation.

Qualifications

3+ years in security engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience building automation with Python/PowerShell.
Experience integrating enterprise platforms via APIs with authentication and JSON handling.
Understanding of security operations, incident response, and common threats.
Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms and workflow tools.
Knowledge of Git, code review, testing, and secure development practices.
Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain technical solutions to nontechnical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity/CS/IT or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain automation workflows across SIEM, SOAR, endpoints, identity, vulnerabilities, cloud, and ticketing systems.
Develop integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and scripting languages.
Automate alert enrichment, investigation support, and incident response actions.
Engineer cross-system workflows to improve visibility and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with analysts and responders to identify automation opportunities.
Automate vulnerability management activities including ticketing and assignment.
Incorporate safeguards like approvals, access controls, and rollback procedures.
Ensure secure authentication, secrets management, and audit logging for integrations.
Maintain automation code with version control, testing, and documentation.
Monitor health of automations, handle API limits and platform changes.
Document architectures, data flows, and troubleshooting guides.
Measure automation impact via time savings and faster responses.
Support audit readiness with automated evidence collection and reporting.

Evaluate AI-assisted workflows for accuracy and efficiency.
