Job summary

HI USA New York City Hostel is seeking a Security Associate to help maintain a safe environment and welcome guests. This full-time role offers PM and Overnight shifts and requires a proactive, friendly presence across front desk and security operations.

Responsibilities include patrols, incident reporting, access control, and guest assistance. The position requires a NY Security Guard License (unarmed) and 1 year of experience, with opportunities for growth within HI USA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• New York Security Guard License (unarmed position).
• 1 year of security officer experience.
• Ability to obtain F53 license within 90 days.
• Strong writing and communication skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Experience in 24/7 hospitality/retail environments.
• Willingness to learn hostel operations.
• Helpful and courteous demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Patrol property on foot to secure employees and guests across multiple floors and common areas.
• Investigate and take lawful action per policy; file incident reports as necessary.
• Communicate suspicious behavior and incidents to staff and management promptly.
• Monitor surveillance equipment for incident response.
• Control access points and manage heavy traffic during check-ins, check-outs, and events.
• Complete daily reports and shift recaps.
• Secure doors, windows and exits based on shift requirements.
• Assist with general customer service duties, including welcoming guests and handling luggage.
• Provide lobby support during high-traffic periods and expedite service needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

We are accepting applications for a Security Associate who will play a crucial role in maintaining our facility's security and welcoming atmosphere.

Pay: $19 - $21 per hour

Shifts: Flexibility to work both PM and Overnight shifts required

Role Objectives

• Ensure a safe environment through active patrol, strict access control, monitoring, and reporting
• Greet staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner
• Respond swiftly and appropriately to distress and emergency calls
• Collaborate effectively with management, reception, and housekeeping staff
• Provide excellent guest service and support the hostel’s welcoming atmosphere

Role Responsibilities

• Secure all doors, windows, and exits based on shift requirements
• Assist with general customer service duties, including welcoming guests, assisting with luggage, making kay cards, receiving, and assisting with guest packages
• Provide lobby support during high-traffic periods by engaging with guests, addressing routine requests, and helping expedite service needs
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• New York Security Guard License (unarmed position)
• 1 year of security officer experience
• Ability to obtain F53 license within 90 days if not already possessed
• Strong writing and communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a writing sample required during the interview process
• Experience in 24/7 hospitality/retail environments
• Willingness to learn hostel operations
• Helpful and courteous demeanor

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, stoop or crouch, talk, and hear
• Occasionally required to climb or balance
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Moderate noise level in the work environment
