Carvana in Houston, Texas is seeking a full-time Safe and Secure Associate. This role is integral to ensuring the protection of associates, customers, and assets at our facility. Responsibilities include managing the movement of vehicles, conducting patrols, and maintaining safety protocols.

Job Overview

As a Safe and Secure Associate, you will be an integral part of the Safe and Secure Team executing programs and processes at our facility to ensure our associates, customers, and assets are protected. At our gates, you will be the face of Carvana to our associates, our vendors, and our visitors. You will ensure proper protocols are followed with egress and digress procedures. You will be well‑versed on emergency procedures and will be able to provide assistance when needed. You will play an active role in ensuring our Inventory Control procedures are adhered to.

A Day in the Life

• Manage and properly document the movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center entrance and exit gates.
• Serve as the face of Carvana to associates, vendors, and visitors.
• Lead with effective communication with team, partners, and customers. Foster active listening and effective dialogue.
• Conduct routine patrols of the Inspection Center and Logistics facility yard and buildings, documenting any security and/or safety concerns.
• Become trained and certified on a variety of life‑saving measures such as first aid, CPR, and AED.
• Partner with your Safe and Secure Team Lead and Safe and Secure Manager to remedy badge‑creation requests, CCTV review, and other related tasks.
• Promote an incident‑ready focus at your site. Understand Incident Response Protocol and ensure appropriate actions are taken when needed.
• De‑escalate situations to collaborate with partners and team members, keeping Carvana values in mind.
• Execute the facility Safe and Secure Principles at the entrance/exits.
• Utilize the Safe and Secure Application (SAS App) and RFID technology.
• Deliver a service‑first approach in all activities.
• Exemplify Carvana values in every action.

Basic Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a customer‑service environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CCTV, RFID, Card Access, and other Safe and Secure technologies.
• Previous experience supporting an OSHA program – Safety Team.
• Experience supporting crisis prevention and/or response plans.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• This position is designated as safety‑sensitive.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; most lifting from knee to shoulder height; other lifting from various levels.
• Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
• Requires standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, or have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Requires use of safety equipment that may include face shield or goggles, non‑slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments.
• Requires frequent driving and computer data entry.
• Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
• The facility operates 24/7 and gates must be manned at all times.
