Job summary

Job Summary

The Security Associate performs duties that ensure the safety and security of the PAC, its staff, patrons, and presenters. Welcomes and greets staff, crews, artists and visitors. Monitors alarm, surveillance, and HVAC systems. Makes physical check of building interior and exterior. Oversees security of dock areas. Responds to incidents such as disturbances, medical emergencies, and unauthorized entry. Maintains logs and activity records.

Duties

Makes regular physical checks of the building interior and exterior for security and safety hazards; example: unlocked doors, ice, obstructions; criminal and vagrant activity; reports conditions to management or Emergency or Non‑Emergency services.

Oversees security room operations, including: monitoring surveillance systems, alarm systems, and HVAC systems, maintaining daily logs, alerting appropriate staff persons and agencies in the event of emergencies, and providing written reports to management as required.

Responds to disturbances, unauthorized entries and medical emergencies, to include, but not limited to: coordinating with Anchorage Safety Patrol, Anchorage Police Department/Fire Department, in response to individuals who may be under the influence of drugs/alcohol who are in distress, and/or refuse to vacate the premises. Assists fire, medics and other agencies to gain immediate entry. May perform CPR and/or provide first aid.

Locks/unlocks building doors; secures facility after hours.

Turns on/off stage fans, light boards, building/office lights, etc. as needed.

Confirms and processes personnel approvals for backstage access.

Issues keys and distributes to event personnel.

Issues equipment to temporary security staff and assigns duties.

Checks loading doc parking area for unauthorized vehicles.

Welcomes and assists visitors; provides information; directs to appropriate departments, while maintaining excellent customer service and attitude.

Receives deliveries of supplies and equipment; refers to departments.

Supports routing of incoming messages from media, presenters, and family members to appropriate departments of individuals; provides support for incoming phone calls as requested/assigned.

Learn and operate the Elvov Security System used for public events.

Supplements event security staff as needed for events. Coordinated between Director of Facilities, and Event Operations Manager.

Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older

High School graduation or GED required

Minimum of one year security training or equivalent experience two years experience preferred.

Ability to read, write and speak basic English.

Ability to navigate multiple computer-based software and systems. i.e. Microsoft Suite, and other specialized computer programs.

Maintain first aid and CPR certification.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to respond to incidents and alarms in a prompt, disciplined manner.

Ability to deal tactfully with persons whose actions affect security.

Stand, sit, and walk.

Stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.

Lift or move 50 lbs; occasionally move 100 lbs.

Ability to deal with irrational behavior of individuals, illness and injury.
