The Department of Economic Security, Office of Inspector General (OIG), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as a Investigator Senior. This position will serve as a Security Area Manager. In cooperation with the DES Office of Inspector General, Protective Services Administration (PSA) senior leadership, the Investigator Senior (Security Area Manager) directs the development, implementation, and management of effective security strategies at multiple DES facilities in assigned areas of responsibility. This role develops, maintains, and updates security plans, procedures, and processes, to include those implemented by contracted security personnel. The Security Area Manager conducts initial investigative activities as needed. Directs contract security staff, and DES staff at various facilities to ensure security needs are met. Conducts thorough investigations of incidents involving contracted security staff, submits Vendor Performance Reports of investigation and findings to Office of Procurement /State Procurement. This position maintains effective communication with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders to monitor and ensure contract obligations are met.

Retirement

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for lifelong income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.

On, or shortly after, your first day of work you will be provided with additional information about the available insurance plans, enrollment instructions, submission deadlines and effective dates.

Knowledge of:
  • Federal, state and local laws relating to security, law enforcement, search and seizure, arrest and use of force procedures firearms and tactics utilized in emergency situations
  • Emergency procedures; security, fire and environmental alarm systems and the action appropriate in the event of their activation
  • First Aid
  • Electronic devices (i.e. radio and communications, computers, monitors, recording, and photography) and other security equipment
  • Personal computer operations in a network environment
  • Evidence handling procedures, crime analysis, investigation and Intelligence gathering
  • Methods and techniques of statistical research, analysis, and probability modeling
  • Google Suite products
Skills In:
  • Understanding complex written documents and policies, and interpreting how those policies should be applied at a local level
  • Preparing and editing official correspondence, training materials and reports to include format, edit tables and charts
  • Understanding and applying crisis management techniques
  • Reviewing and analyzing data and information from multiple sources to extract facts
  • Reviewing and evaluation of activities and develop effective methods for improvement
  • Presenting training in individual, small and large group settings
  • Industry physical security standards
Ability to:
  • Establish effective working relationships, both internal and external to the Department
  • Direct contracted staff toward the effective accomplishment of their duties and responsibilities
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe and effective manner and not be hazard to self or others
  • Assume duties and responsibilities in the absence of the department supervisor for short periods
  • Develop local security policies and procedures at the direction of senior management
  • Conduct fact finding research
  • Utilize problem solving techniques
  • Maintain confidence and composure in high stress situations
  • Must be able to drive to and from locations in Arizona
