Job summary

MarinHealth Medical Center seeks an IT Security Engineer to manage and secure our systems and infrastructure. You will install, configure, and maintain operating systems and security tools, and coordinate with developers to resolve performance and security issues.

The role requires 3–4 years in systems engineering or similar and 1–2 years in cybersecurity analytics, with PowerShell and endpoint protection experience. Local travel and hospital IT environment exposure are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • 3–4 years as systems engineer, Windows sysadmin, and/or network engineer; 1–2 years as a cyber security analyst or equivalent.
  • California Driver’s License Class C required at hire; IAM required within 30 days; CompTIA A+ (A+ Security preferred) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work independently and in small groups.

  • Proactively ensure high levels of system and infrastructure availability.
  • Plan, research, and develop security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks; identify solutions and work with developers to implement fixes.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level IT support; liaise with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution.

  • Understanding of endpoint security solutions (e.g., DLP, FIM).
  • Licenses/Certifications: California Driver’s License Class C required at hire; IAM required within 30 days of hire; CompTIA A+ (A+ Security preferred) or equivalent required.
  • Prerequisite Skills: Ability to work independently and in small groups; communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff; document workflows; strong time management and prioritization; strong logical, analytical, and customer relation skills.
