Job summary

You will work directly with Defender, Azure/Entra, and Microsoft 365 to troubleshoot incidents and strengthen security controls. The role combines security operations with opportunities to enhance processes, communicate with stakeholders, and partner with security teams.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Security Analyst to monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity threats in a Microsoft-focused environment. This role works directly with security tools to identify threats, troubleshoot incidents, address vulnerabilities, and improve security controls. The position combines day-to-day security operations with opportunities to strengthen existing security processes and work with technical teams on ongoing improvements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security activity, investigate suspicious behavior, and respond to cybersecurity incidents using Microsoft security tools.
• Work hands-on with Microsoft Defender, Azure/Entra, and Microsoft 365 to troubleshoot security issues and maintain security controls.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, identify security risks, and recommend and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain security policies and procedures, communicate findings to technical teams and business stakeholders, and coordinate with external security partners.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying, supporting, or maintaining information security systems.
• Practical experience working with Microsoft security technologies, particularly Microsoft Defender and Azure/Entra.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including security configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience investigating security incidents, identifying threats, troubleshooting issues, and implementing security controls.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and experience with security technologies, including SIEM tools.

Preferred Experience

• Microsoft Sentinel experience; other SIEM platforms are acceptable.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, AI governance, or tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude.
• Security certification such as CySA+, SSCP, E|CSS, or a comparable certification.
• Bachelor's degree in information security or a related field. Equivalent professional experience and training are acceptable.

This is a 6-month contract-to-Hire opportunity with our Lenexa, KS client.
