Job summary

City View Multi-Care-Center in Illinois is seeking a Security Officer to cover weekends and holidays, with a 24-hour campus presence to deter crime and protect patients, staff, and visitors.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, being at least 18 years old, and strong communication skills. Prior care or security experience plus basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) are preferred; CPI training will be provided within the first week.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor all hospital areas to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Interact professionally with staff and the public at all levels.
• Handle crises calmly and efficiently and report incidents.
• Assist in lifting patients when needed to support nursing staff or transport expired patients.
• Restrain violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves and others.
• Acquire basic task proficiency within three months through experience.
• Understand direct patient care basics and essential emergency observations.
• Maintain high mental alertness to avoid errors and ensure patient safety.
• Spend significant time dealing with patients and potential stressors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge/Duties:

This is a full or part time position working 24 hours weekly with weekend and holiday requirements. Security Officers are on campus 24/7 and act as a visible deterrent to crime and policy infractions, as well as detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts, which may be a threat to the property, staff, visitors or patients. Interacts with psychiatric/violent patients. The position reports to the Director of Security Services.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skill.
• Experience providing care and support to the resident, experience with security, customer service or related field.
• Have intermediate computer skills, report writing and event logging using software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• CPI and Dementia CPI within first week of hire provided by Facility

Responsibilities:

• The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring all areas of the hospital in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
• Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently
• Assist in lifting patients as needed to either assist nursing staff or help transport expired patients
• Restrain violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves, others and yourself.
• Should obtain minimal level of proficiency of tasks through experience by the end of three months.
• Knowledge of principles of direct patient care, certain treatments, basic observations and essential points of care about emergency patients.
• Requires high level of mental alertness to avoid error and negative consequences to patients.
• Spends majority of time dealing with patients of whom some may create stress, frustration, or high level of concern.
• Physical abilities must allow for frequent working, stooping, bending, and frequent lifting and moving of patients.
• All other duties as assigned
