Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Chicago seeks a Securitized Products Group Salesperson to support senior professionals and interact with institutional clients across agency and nonagency MBS, ABS, CMBS, CLOs and whole loans.

The role involves daily execution, client communication, and collaboration with control functions to ensure governance, while building knowledge of securitized products and fixed income markets. Requires Series licenses and strong client-facing skills.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years relevant experience.
  • Prior sales experience at a financial services organization.
  • Broad client relationships preferred.
  • Experience in a client facing role with buy-side clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced problem solving abilities.
  • Must have or obtain Series 3, 7, 55, 63 licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior sales professionals covering institutional clients across MBS/ABS/CMLS/ CLOs and whole loans.
  • Assist with daily execution, booking and settlement of client transactions.
  • Communicate with clients to understand objectives and develop relationships.
  • Prepare trade confirmations, pricing runs, inventory lists and market updates.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Finance to ensure governance.
  • Monitor activity, settlements, allocations and resolve breaks.
  • Maintain client coverage records and documentation.
  • Distribute new-issue information, deal announcements and opportunities.
  • Track client inquiries, BWICs, offerings and follow-ups.
  • Prepare meetings, presentations, market data and portfolio analysis for clients.
  • Respond promptly to requests while understanding account objectives.
  • Ensure activities comply with firm policies and regulations.
  • Develop knowledge of securitized products, market conventions and fixed income.

The Securitized Products Group Salesperson is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

  • Support senior sales professionals covering institutional clients across agency and non-agency MBS, ABS, CMBS, CLOs and whole loans.

  • Communicate and interact directly with clients to understand their investment objectives, respond to inquiries, and develop relationships.
  • Prepare trade confirmations, pricing runs, inventory lists and client-facing market updates.
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Monitor trade activity, settlement status, allocations and potential breaks, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Maintain client coverage records, transaction histories, contact information and account documentation.
  • Help distribute new-issue information, deal announcements, offering materials and secondary-market opportunities.
  • Track client inquiries, axes, bids wanted in competition (BWICs), offerings and follow-up items.
  • Assist salespeople with client meeting preparation, presentations, market data and portfolio analysis.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client requests while developing an understanding of each account’s investment objectives and portfolio needs.
  • Ensure all activities comply with firm policies, regulatory requirements and internal control procedures.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of securitized products, market conventions, relative-value analysis and the broader fixed-income market.
  • Provide general administrative and organizational support to the senior sales team, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, and assist in client entertainment.
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary securities license within the requires timeframe.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
