Job summary

i3, headquartered in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Data Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of mission data across MDA systems. You will coordinate data flow from producers, ensure adherence to standards, and manage ingestion, parsing, cataloging, distribution, and archival tasks to support analysis and decision making.

The role requires experience with secure data handling, metadata governance, and data transfer tools, with DoD program exposure and an active clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in data management or test data operations; DoD programs strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with mission test environments, metadata standards, and secure data handling.
• Experience in multi-domain data environments (classified/unclassified).
• Active DoD Secret clearance required; must maintain eligibility throughout employment.
• Must reside within 50 miles of Redstone Arsenal or be willing to relocate.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary interface with test data producers to ensure timely, standardized delivery of data products defined in IDMPs and DHPs.
• Manage data transfers via secure file transfer and synchronization tool and physical media; execute parsing, cataloging, ingestion, and archival processes in accordance with SOPs and mission timelines.
• Track, validate, and report data delivery status from receipt through dissemination and archival, ensuring metadata completeness and policy compliance.
• Apply and enforce SOPs, Work Instructions, and metadata standards; identify gaps and recommend updates.
• Verify data format and metadata compliance from providers; collaborate with Mission Data Owners to address non-standard inputs.
• Ensure compliance with retention schedules; coordinate archival and destruction activities with proper documentation and traceability.
• Operate AIMSS tools such as DMS, LCC, and other data management tools; interface with software teams for system issues or enhancements.
• Conduct QA checks to validate data integrity, reconcile orphan files, and verify cataloging accuracy.
• Maintain accountability of physical and digital media, ensuring check-in/out procedures are followed and inventory status is accurate.
• Generate and maintain trackers, reports, and dashboards on data readiness, ingestion metrics, and distribution milestones; communicate status to leadership and analysis teams.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose automation or process optimization opportunities.
• Work with Data Analysts, Librarians, and ARC personnel to ensure consistent data flow and support JAT requirements.
