Job summary

LCS Defense is seeking a hands-on Secure Communications Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration and testing of secure voice and network communications for a DoD customer in the Maryland area. The role emphasizes engineering rather than operations, with hands-on lab work to implement and evaluate solutions.

The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in IP networking and secure communications, with experience translating requirements into concrete system

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–8 years of relevant systems, network or secure communications engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in IP networking, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, Ethernet and VLANs.
• Experience with secure voice, VoIP/VOSIP, secure telephony or secure communications systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specs, system requirements and network diagrams.
• Experience translating requirements into implementation, integration, validation or testing activities.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of networked communications systems and interoperability issues.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret technical specifications and system requirements for secure communications capabilities.
• Translate requirements into system designs, configurations, integration approaches and test activities.
• Support engineering and development of secure voice and secure IP communications solutions.
• Participate in system implementation, interoperability testing, validation and troubleshooting.
• Analyze network behavior to identify interoperability, configuration and implementation issues.
• Develop and review technical documentation, interface information and engineering artifacts.
• Collaborate with government customers and other stakeholders to resolve secure communications challenges.
• Perform hands-on lab activities to configure, integrate, test and troubleshoot representative systems.
