Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities seeks individuals for a Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide Trainee. Traineeship lasts 9 to 15 months, with progression to the DDSCTA salary grade 14 upon successful completion, in a secure setting providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Roles include assisting in habilitation, ensuring safety, and participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• You must have a high school diploma or an equivalency, such as a GED, or a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited organization; and successfully complete a DDSCTA traineeship or have 1 year of full-time direct care experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
• You must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. You will be required to maintain a valid driver's license throughout your employment as a DDSCTA.
• You must meet physical and agility standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in habilitation and care of individuals with developmental disabilities in a secure unit, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
• Help implement individualized habilitation plans and support daily living activities.
• Stand, bend, stretch, lift, and participate in physical interventions as needed.
