The Abilene Philharmonic is seeking Section Violin players for the upcoming 2027-2028 season. Auditions will take place on October 23, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Abilene Convention Center located at 1100 N. 6th Street, Abilene, Texas. Interested candidates must submit their applications by October 16, 2026, and are required to include a $25 check deposit, which is refundable unless the candidate fails to cancel a week prior to the audition date.The audition process consists of two rounds. The first round will be screened, meaning the committee will not see the candidates, and candidates are asked to refrain from speaking during this round. Those who advance to the second round will perform in front of the committee, who will also review their resumes. Candidates should arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and will be provided with a private practice space shortly before their audition time.Compensation for Section/Substitute players is set at $92 per service, though this is subject to change for the 2027-2028 season. Annual service requirements will align with upcoming changes to musician policies, which will be communicated before signing contracts for the season.
