PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Safely maintain the physical railway track within a specific territory in accordance with guidelines set forth by the FRA and CPKC.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Perform track maintenance and renewal work (outdoors, in all weather conditions)
• Operate hand tools, small machines, and track renewal equipment
• Stand, lift, and squat for long periods; able to lift 50 lbs or more
• Travel as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Ability to perform physical work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations, and perform tasks accordingly
• Must be 18 years or older
• High School diploma or GED
• CDL license or ability to obtain one (CPKC will assist with costs)

Medical Requirements:
CPKC prioritizes safety and health. This is a safety-sensitive position; all new hires must complete a pre-employment medical including physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug assessments. Qualification drug tests are also required.

The successful candidate will need to pass the following clearances:

• Last 3 years of driving history
• Last 7 years of employment/military service history
