Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Lab Science required.
• 5 to 7 years Clinical Laboratory experience required.
• Supervisor License in Florida in all 5 Specialties: Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology.

Responsibilities

• Update section to adhere to accreditation standards and prepare staff for inspections.
• Ensure staff training and competency for patient testing; review daily work and critical results.
• Create monthly staffing schedules covering all shifts and post in advance.
• Maintain inventory control and cost effectiveness; monitor shortages and recalls.
• Coordinate selection, evaluation, and implementation of new equipment and systems.
• Adhere to quality control policies; document and troubleshoot QC activities.
• Report unresolved issues to laboratory leadership and assist in supervision across the department.
• Provide instruction and training in theory, skills, safety, and lab procedures to students and employees.
• Perform laboratory testing with accuracy for treatment and diagnosis, and maintain maintenance records.
• Review/update policies and ensure CAP, CLIA, AHCA, and Joint Commission compliance.

Responsibilities

In this role the Section Lab Supervisor will perform the following job duties:

• Update section to adhere to any changes in accreditation standards prepares technical sections and staff for inspections.
• Ensure staff are trained and competent to perform patient testing.
  Reviews daily work to check for completeness, obvious errors or omissions. Reviews Critical Result documentation performed by staff.
• Create monthly staffing schedule to adequately cover all shifts and post at least one week before the beginning of the new month with vacation and other staff time off fairly considered.
• Maintain good inventory control practices, makes recommendations, and implements needed changes to par levels and product availability; monitors supply shortages, recalls, substitutions, and maintains cost effectiveness.
• Coordinate selection, evaluation, and implementation of new equipment and systems.
• Adhere to the quality control policies in performing, resulting, troubleshooting, and documenting all quality control activities.
• Report issues or concerns that are unable to be resolved promptly to laboratory leadership.
• Assist in the provision of direct supervision and leadership for all functions of the specialty to include disciplinary action, the hire and termination process, and employee performance review.
• Provide instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols, and laboratory procedures to students and employees.
• Perform laboratory testing with accuracy and precision specific to the assigned section for the treatment and diagnosis of diseases.
• Perform and documents preventative maintenance and troubleshooting records to maintain high quality laboratory service.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management within job scope.
• Review and update policies and procedures as needed.
• Ensure department is compliant with CAP standards including proficiency testing, CLIA, AHCA and Joint Commission.
