Job summary

Blackhawk Mining, LLC in West Virginia seeks a Mine Section Supervisor to oversee safety and production on a working section. You will direct a crew, enforce safety protocols, and ensure efficient extraction of coal according to approved plans.

You will identify and eliminate hazardous conditions related to roof, dust, gas, and material handling, and supervise installation and maintenance of roof supports, ventilation pumps, and power distribution. Compliance with regulations is required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising miners in a safety-focused environment.
• Knowledge of mine safety regulations and processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct the section according to mine maps, ensuring correct sights and cross-cuts.
• Conduct pre-shift and on-shift examinations of equipment and conditions, including roofs and roadways.
• Identify and eliminate hazardous conditions from roof, dust, gas, and material handling.
• Supervise mining of coal per plans on main entry and room sections with continuous mining equipment.
• Supervise installation and maintenance of roof supports, ventilation controls, pumps, section supplies, electrical power distribution centers, conveyors, feeders, fire prevention equipment, and firefighting apparatus.

Job description

• Direct supervision of employees on working section related to safety and production.
• Identify and supervise the elimination of hazardous conditions derived from roof conditions, dust, gas, and those related to material handling, movement of equipment and electrical power distribution.
• Supervise the installation and maintenance of roof supports, ventilation controls, pumps, section supplies, electrical power distribution centers, conveyor belts, feeders, fire prevention equipment, and fire fighting apparatus.
• Supervise the mining of coal according to plans on main entry and room sections using continuous mining equipment and transporting this coal to section loading point while following all laws and/or Company regulations.
• Direct the section according to mine map projections making sure sights are correct and cross-cuts are turned properly. ,

Conduct pre-shift and on-shift examinations including review of examiner's book, equipment conditions, section conditions, roof and roadway conditions.
