Dartmouth Health’s Department of Radiology is seeking a Chief of Breast Imaging to join our dynamic Department in the beautiful Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the system’s central clinical hub and Academic Medical Center, is located immediately adjacent to the bustling college town of Hanover, NH. Hanover is home to the world-renowned Dartmouth College and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
We are seeking a skilled, visionary, and impactful radiologist leader to define and execute a vision for a world-class breast imaging section. Responsibilities for the role include growing an efficient, productive, cutting-edge clinical service; nurturing a robust and growing educational program for students, residents, and fellows; and spearheading a scholarly portfolio for the section including clinical, health care delivery, and/or basic science research. The Chief of Breast Imaging will have broad impact, with leadership responsibilities across Dartmouth Health and at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. It is anticipated that the Chief would be appointed at the Associate or Full Professor level at the Geisel School of Medicine. Faculty have access to the full academic and cultural resources of the health system, the College, and the School.
Position Summary
The Chief of Breast Imaging will be a nationally known leader in the field of breast imaging, one capable of vision setting and execution. She or he will have a personal reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, mentoring, and scholarship. The Chief of Breast Imaging will execute on the three essential missions of this academic, mission-driven department:

Reporting Structure
The Chief will report directly to the Chair of Radiology (who also serves as the Vice President of the Radiology Service Line for Dartmouth Health). Breast imagers will in turn report to the Chief, as will the Breast Imaging Fellow. Given the importance of alignment and collaboration with our excellent technologists, nurses, and support staff, relevant supervisors will have dotted line reporting to the section chief as well.
Overall, the Chief should have the ability to engage and inspire others, including physician colleagues, department staff, and others throughout the institution. The Department values patient-centered care and a highly collaborative, respectful, caring, and engaging work environment. There is a strong working relationship with other Departments including oncology and breast surgery, and the section participates in regular multidisciplinary meetings.

The selected candidate will join Dartmouth Health’s 60 radiologists. We are an internationally known Department with a deep history in the field, beginning with acquiring the first clinically x-ray in the United States in 1896. While Dartmouth Health includes many hospitals and clinic sites, this position is based at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, our tertiary care central hub which also serves as the system’s Academic Medical Center. DHMC is the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and is home to a fleet of helicopter and ground-based medical transport services.
