Description

SCI Engineering is a multi-discipline firm offering a variety of services from the design development stage through construction. We specialize in Geotechnical, Environmental, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Construction Material Testing services.

Technicians help the professional and technical staff teams to function smoothly. They work closely with all firm members. This position requires professionalism and a willingness to work not only to meet expected deadlines but also as needed for excellence in service. The technician provides support of a highly complex and responsible nature, interfacing regularly, comfortably and confidently with various levels both inside and outside the firm. The position requires considerable discretion, initiative, and independent judgment in non-routine matters.

Essential Functions

The Archaeological Field Technician will perform the following tasks on a regular basis with supervision.

  • Phase I Cultural Resource Surveys Pedestrian
  • Phase I Cultural Resource Surveys Shovel Test
  • Phase II NRHP Eligibility Testing
  • Phase III Data Recovery
  • Laboratory Material Processing, Cataloguing, and Analysis
Qualifications

  • Minimum of a BA or BS in Anthropology or a related field.
  • Past archaeological field experience or completion of an accredited field school.
  • Must have reliable transportation and enjoy working outside. Must be available for overtime and weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Requires a basic logical understanding of computers, general hardware and software.
  • Requires logical approach to problem solving.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
