Job summary

Cherokee Nation Integrated Health (CNIH), part of Cherokee Federal, seeks a Computational Biologist I to support genomic sequencing and bioinformatics at Fort Detrick, Maryland. You will analyze sequencing data from Oxford Nanopore and Illumina, develop workflows, and translate results for researchers.

Must hold an active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one, be a US citizen, and collaborate with laboratory scientists in a Linux-based HPC setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze genomic and biological datasets from Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencing.
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines in Linux and HPC environments.
• Perform sequence quality assessment, demultiplexing, de novo genome assembly, and reference-based alignment.
