Overview

Stellar Virtual seeks a passionate and certified Secondary Electives Teacher (Art or Music) to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction in either Art or Music to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of their subject matter, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a creative and supportive online learning environment.

Essential Duties

  • Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Missouri State Standards for Elementary Education.
  • Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to the diverse learning styles and developmental needs of young learners.
  • Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, and virtual manipulatives.
  • Provide clear, timely, and age-appropriate feedback on student work to promote understanding and growth.
  • Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students based on their learning needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive online classroom community that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Implement the Stellar Virtual elective curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and skill levels.
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning, artistic/musical growth, and understanding of concepts.
  • Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the curriculum.
  • Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
  • Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
  • Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching a range of secondary-level Art or Music courses.
  • Experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools relevant to Art or Music instruction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Passion for working with students and fostering their artistic or musical growth and appreciation.
  • Residency in the state of Missouri is required.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Art Education/Fine Arts, Music/Performance, or a related field.
  • A valid Missouri teaching license with an endorsement in the relevant elective area (Art K-12 or Music K-12) or equivalent.
