Job summary

LifeWise Academy seeks a part-time LifeWise teacher to provide Bible-based instruction for grades 6-12. The role emphasizes strong communication, compassionate mentoring, and faithful church involvement within a school/church setting.

You will complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification, participate in annual LifeWise events, and maintain accurate class records while engaging with students and volunteers in a supportive classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
• A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
• Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the 'What We Believe' section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Responsibilities

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training: Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
• Teach LifeWise Classes: map curriculum and deliver age-appropriate LifeWise lessons
• Maintain Records: keep attendance and class rosters, health concerns and permissions
• Maintain the Classroom: foster an organized, clean and safe learning environment
• Communicate: build relationships with students, volunteers and school staff and share updates with the program director

Overview

LifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. Job Description

• Complete Initial and Ongoing Training

  • Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
  • Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
  • Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
• Teach LifeWise Classes
  • Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
  • Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
  • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculum
  • Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
  • Cultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature

  • Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
  • Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher

  • Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
  • Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
  • Purchase classroom supplies as neede using funds provided by the program director
• Communicate
  • Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
  • Attend events as available or requested by the program director
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
  • Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
  • Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
  • Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
